Funeral Costs & Payment
To discuss funeral costs, get in touch with Rosetown Funeral Home. We will be able to go over the options available for the various parts of the funeral, as well as the expenses involved. There are many variables involved in any funeral service, so due to this it is not possible to give exact costs initially. However, we will be able to give you a costings estimate based on your requirements and locality.
Whatever your budget may be, we will be able to provide a funeral service to suit both your needs and your financial circumstances. If you have any financial concerns regarding the funeral, simply let us know and we can guide you through the process with your concerns in mind. We may also suggest agencies you can approach to help with funeral costs.
Typically, a funeral service will require around 16 to 20 hours of a funeral director’s time. In addition to organising the service on behalf of Rosetown, we act as an agent for other suppliers involved with the funeral. These may include flowers, newspaper notices, transportation, cemetery or cremation fees, gratuities, toll calls and catering. Our fee also covers overheads such as premises, vehicles, staff salaries and our 24-hour service. This means that the final cost is actually multiple accounts in one simplified invoice.
No matter your budgeting requirements, we are able to guide you through the process of arranging a funeral that fits your needs. Whether you would like the funeral to be traditional, contemporary, or one of our set service options, we are dedicated to providing a service that is meaningful and personalised.
Settling the funeral account
In line with normal commercial practice, Rosetown Funeral Home requires you to provide full payment by a particular due date. Most funeral firms send their account directly to the family, with a copy to the solicitor if required. On most occasions, the person making the arrangements with the funeral director remains responsible for paying the invoice.
When a funeral is being arranged, Rosetown Funeral Home will incur a significant outlay on your behalf. This outlay covers expenses to all external service providers involved in the funeral service. Because of this, prompt payment of the account by the due date is very much appreciated. Rosetown Funeral Home will also require a deposit when taking instructions from you. Any outstanding accounts will be charged interest, and a service fee may also be required if the account is unpaid by the due date. When the settlement of an estate is delayed, families are encouraged to pay the account by this date, and recover the expenses from the estate.
Funeral Financial Assistance
If the death is the result of an accident, the Accident Compensation Corporation does have a funeral grant available. If you need help with these applications, our staff will be able to assist you. For more information on how to apply for this, get in touch with Rosetown Funeral Home and we will be happy to discuss further.
When someone dies, Work & Income New Zealand may be able to cover some of the funeral costs. The person’s spouse, parent, or executor of the estate can apply for a lump-sum contribution. It is worth noting that this grant is means tested and will only cover a portion of the total funeral expenses.
